Faceless portraits are so beautiful. They show feelings without showing faces. I love making them. In this blog I will share how I draw faceless portraits using my easy tracing method. Anyone can try this at home!

What Is a Faceless Portrait?
A faceless portrait shows a person’s body and style, but it doesn’t include the face. You can see the body, clothes, hair, and style but not the eyes, nose, or mouth.
These portraits look calm and clean. They are perfect for gifts, wall art, or social media.
Why I Love Drawing Faceless Portraits
I started drawing faceless portraits because:
- I enjoy art
- I like trying new styles
- It’s simple and fun
- I can finish it faster than a full face
It helps me relax, and I can also make money from it on TikTok and other places!
How I Draw Faceless Portraits – Step by Step
Here is how I draw faceless portraits using my special method. It’s very easy. You don’t need to be a pro artist!
Step 1: Choose a Picture
First, I pick a nice photo. It can be:
- A selfie
- A couple’s picture
- A family photo
- A pet photo
I choose pictures with clear shapes and easy body outlines. Side-view or back-view pictures work best.
Step 2: Print the Photo on Paper
I print the photo on A4 paper using a normal printer.Pick a photo that’s bright enough so you can clearly see the body and hair outlines.
Step 3: Shade the Back of the Paper Using a Pencil
This step is fun! I turn the paper over and rub a pencil (like 6B or 8B) all over the back. I press lightly and cover all parts behind the body.
Now, the paper back is full of pencil — it’s ready for tracing.
I use a soft pencil like 6B for shading.

Step 4: Place the Paper on Canvas or Drawing Paper
I place the paper (image side up, pencil side down) on my canvas or art paper. I tape the corners so it doesn’t move.
Step 5: Trace the Main Lines
I use a ball pen or a sharp pencil to trace the outlines — body, hair, hands, clothes. I don’t draw faces. That’s what makes it “faceless.”
After tracing, I remove the print and I can see the pencil marks on the canvas. It’s like magic!
Step 6: Start Coloring or Painting
Now it’s time to add colors and bring your portrait to life. You can use:
- Colored pencils
- Markers
- Paint (like acrylic or watercolor)
- Digital tools (on iPad)
I love using soft colors. Sometimes I add a background too — like flowers, sky, or names.

I use a simple acrylic paint set to color my faceless portraits.
